Autumn Concert Planning Underway

We are excited to announce that planning for our second annual autumn fundraiser concert is underway. On Tuesday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m., the choirs of First Presbyterian Church and the Flipper Chapel AME will join together for a night of musical performance and fellowship. “Voices of the Beloved Community” will take place at First Presbyterian and is to be followed by a reception. There will be no charge for admission but attendees are encouraged to make a contribution. The proceeds of the concert will be split with the majority going directly to Citizen Advocacy; each church will identify an outreach ministry to support with its share of the profits.

The idea to ask these two choirs to come together stemmed from attending Chatham-Savannah Citizen Advocacy’s 34th Annual Meeting and Covered Dish Supper this past May. This annual meeting is one of the most joyful occasions to take place every year. It is awe-inspiring—almost life-changing—to see folks sharing the table, breaking bread, and celebrating citizen advocacy relationships by sharing stories and singing songs about brotherhood. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke of the “Beloved Community,” a society where neighbors help and look after one another. This is the essence of the work we do and we hope to capture and celebrate that in song on the night of October 9.
